Who is Jerald's Kitchen?
Jerald Lacey is a native of Austin, Texas. He has watched the city grow and change over the years. The skyline has changed, the city limit has shifted and people from all over the world have made Austin their home. One thing that hasn't changed is the memories of a simpler time.

After 36 years in the healthcare industry Jerald made the decision to semi-retired in 2022. Not wanting to spend his days playing cards and mowing the lawn, he reached back to his youth and remembered the joy of canning with his Grandmother Susie. Using fresh fruits and vegetables from the large garden his grandparents had; weekly trips to Piggly Wiggly rarely included buying produce, jams, jellies or anything pickled.
My Story
Thankfully I still have some of Grandma Susie's recipes and techniques for canning. I ordered a water bath canner, jars and cleared out fresh jalapeños from a local grocery store. I canned my first batch of sliced sweet jalapeños to share with friends and family. I was hooked and so were they!

My vision is to bring old family recipes and traditions back to life to share. I want good quality with fresh and - when possible - locally-sourced ingredients at a reasonable price. My first foray into local markets was at one of my favorite Texas Hill Country towns, Llano Market Days on February 18th, 2023. Sliced Sweet Jalapeños. Mexican-style Pickled Carrots. Pickled Green Beans. Pickled Mixed Vegetables. Jalapeño Strawberry Jam. Enjoy!
